Oke, stop berbicara produk, di CPA, sebuah produk biasanya disebut offers atau verticals. Nah, yang mempunyai produk/offers/verticals, itu dinamakan advertiser atau merchant. Dan yang memasarkan, namanya publisher atau affiliates. Satu merchant biasanya mempunyai beberapa produk yang similar. Ini dikarenakan kebutuhan dari merchant tersebut akan output dari CPA Marketing yang akan dilakukan.
Saya kasih contoh begini. Ada perusahaan asuransi mobil di USA yang memerlukan targeted leads untuk memasarkan produk asuransi mereka karena mereka selama ini memakai email marketing. Perusahaan ini akan meng-hire sebuah merchant, atau bahkan bisa mengurusi offernya sendiri dengan salah satu divisi di perusahaannya. Merchant yang di-hire akan membuat beberapa offers (dalam wujud website) dengan penawaran ‘insurance quotation’. Kuotasi Insurance ini membutuhkan leads berupa email visitor yang targeted, artinya targeted secara geografi (Perusahaan asuransi mobil biasanya bekerja berdasarkan states – aturan setiap states bisa berbeda) dan targeted secara psikografi (Orang yang membutuhkan asuransi mobil).
Setelah offers jadi, karena keterbatasannya, merchant tidak mungkin mencari leads sendiri. Mereka memerlukan orang-orang (baca: internet marketer) yang bisa mendatangkan leads untuk mereka. Disinilah peran sebuah CPA Network semacam EWA Network, Peerfly, Neverblue, dll, yang mempunyai jaringan affiliates. Biasanya ribuan affiliates dari berbagai belahan dunia bergabung di dalam satu network.
Maka kemudian merchant masuk ke dalam salah satu Affiliate Network yang ada setelah bernegosiasi berapa biaya yang harus dikeluarkan untuk setiap satu leads yang dianggap berkualitas oleh merchant. Oleh karena itu, untuk setiap Affiliate Network, sangatlah penting untuk menjaga kualitas affiliates-nya. Karena affiliates yang berkualitas, berarti leads yag dibawa juga akan berkualitas. Ini yang menyebabkan kita susah mendapatkan approval untuk menjadi affiliates di salah satu Affiliates Network tersebut.
